Some leg cramping is caused by vitamin or mineral deficiencies, especially as we get older. Try eating a banana for more potassium, or try extra calcium. My husband believes in the banana concept!

During and after pregnancy I suffered many leg cramps and found that if I was fully hydrated I tended to not have nearly as many leg cramps and the ones I did get were not nearly as painful. So stay hydrated and maybe look into some creams like BenGay and Icy Hot. The Icy Hot is the only cream that worked for me, though admittedly those were the only 2 creams I tried.

The way I reduce leg cramps is by stretching morning when I awake and before I go to sleep. Pretend you are preparing for a marathon when stretching out. -A

I have tried using quinine tablets before as well as placing cold compresses on my legs. These are both things that have worked for me when my legs cramp. -- Thomas
