Leg cramp is caused by involuntary contractions. This contraction of the muscle is exactly what you are seeing and is quite common. I myself have noticed this on numerous occasions in the past.

Beckie is right. When I've experienced leg cramps, I noticed the same kind of twitching. I was concerned, so I checked WebMD.com.

I know mine move sometimes, especially if it is an extreme cramp. I would think since the muscles are tensing/contracting to cause the cramp that movement would be completely normal.

It is absolutely normal to see the muscle twitching underneath the skin. Depending on how severe the leg cramping episode is, I can almost always see my calf muscle tighten and then relax after the cramp passes

During a leg cramp, your muscles are contracting, so it stands to reason you could see some muscle twitching during the process.
